Optimist Youth Track and Field Meet - May 16, 2009

Talulah and I cheered on the 3rd -5th graders that came out to Ted Runner Stadium to participate in the 26th Annual Redlands Optimist Club Youth Track Meet. The kids participated in running events (1600 m, 50 m dash, 400 m) and field events (long jump and softball throw). Mrs. Tolar warmed up and cheered on all her students from Mariposa, Kimberly, and Kingsbury Elementary schools. We enjoyed all the attention (Talulah a bit shamelessly) and tried to stay cool by the awards table. It was going to be a hot one! (When we got home, we cooled off in the turtle pool....) Thanks to the Optimists and the University of Redlands for hosting this event for the kids!

Bulldog Bench Golf Tourney

Talulah and I shmoozed around at Redlands Country Club as participants were checking in at the 20th annual Bulldog Bench Tourney. We tried to take over a Course Marshal cart but Talulah was a little young to drive. I probably am a little young, too, but I do turn 6 on May 14th! If you count dog years, I'm old enough!

We also got to watch some of the golf clinic taught by Ryder Cup captain Dave Stockton and his golf pro son Ron. They gave suggestions on hitting drivers, irons, and how to get out of fairway sand traps. They were really nice!

Thanks to all the Bulldog Bench - we appreciate all your support of Bulldog Athletics!

Softball Wins SCIAC Tourney!

Soon after congratulating the Baseball seniors, T and I sped over to the Field of Dreams to catch the 5th inning of the Softball championship game. The Lady Bulldogs were up 3-0 over the Athenas (who spent 13 innings just prior defeating La Verne). The Bulldogs sent CMS packing with a final score of 5-1 and now they need to get their bags packed to head to Texas for the NCAA D-III Tournament! Congratulations to Coach Laurie and her staff, the seniors, and all the team for a wonderful season and best of luck to them in the Lone Star State!! We'll watch the internet for game scores...GO BULLDOGS!!!!
(Some of these photos are from Friday when the Bulldogs defeated the Leos 2-0 in the 4:30 game. I was a little remiss because I was shocked by the pedicure and polish that was seen on Talulah's toes!!!)

Salute to Baseball Seniors

Talulah and I watched the Bulldogs take out the Stags in the first slugfest of a double-header at the Yard. This was the last home game for twelve seniors -Brett, Kyle, Tony, Tom, Evan, Kevin, Jon, Cory, Matt H., Matt G., Nolan and Jordan. They were all honored in the break between games. We wish them the best and congratulate the team on its solid 3rd place finish in SCIAC!

Softball Tourney - Round 1

Talulah and I sat for a picture with the team prior to their first game in the SCIAC tournament. The Field of Dreams was in impeccable shape as the Bulldogs hosted the Athenas, Leos, and Poets. In the first game, the Leos of La Verne earned a place in the 4:30 game over the Athenas of CMS. In the UR game, the Poets of Whittier gained an early 2-1 lead until the bottom of the 6th inning when the Bulldogs' hitting squad decided to play. Lindsay hit a grand slam followed by Amanda's lone home run. We scored 6 runs that inning! In the top of the 7th, we were biting our nails (it was suggested that Talulah should get hers done fancy-like) but the Bulldogs prevailed and retired the game 7-5. Let's hope the gals keep up the strong hitting against the Leos this afternoon! Go Bulldogs!
