Truffles Update - April

I got an email from Truffles this week. She's still feisty and up to 42 lbs. Thurber is sure he's more than that!!! I had to do a double-take! Truffles is looking a lot like Talulah. Thurber wants a playdate soon.....It might help us keep all the stuffing in the patio chairs instead of around the yard!

Senior Day - Softball

Redlands honored four graduating seniors at the start of a double-header vs. Pomona-Pitzer on Sunday at the Field of Dreams. All four played in the first game - Olivia on the mound, Kayla in center field, Nicky behind the plate, and Amanda as designated hitter. All four ladies will long be remembered in the stats books at Redlands for their contributions to the program. The Lady Bulldogs took both games with scores of 4-0 and 10-2. They cemented a share of the SCIAC title and will play the Leopards of La Verne on Friday at CMS in the SCIAC Post-Season Tournament. We wish them well and GO DAWGS!!!!

Saturday Baseball vs. Sagehens

Thurber and Talulah arrived early at The Yard to help cheer on the Bulldogs in an important SCIAC game vs. the Sagehens of Pomona-Pitzer. Unfortunately the Dawgs were suffering from post-finals stress and let the Hens slug out a commanding lead in the first 3 innings. Redlands ended up losing by a score of 14 - 5. They played again on Sunday at CMS, but lost 11 - 4. Let's hope they get back to their winning ways next Friday at Whittier.

Bulldogs and Leopards at The Yard

With the softball game well in hand, Thurber and I shuffled our way over to The Yard to see how our nationally ranked Bulldogs were doing. We recently moved up to 11th in the country and we're currently tied for first in SCIAC. When we got there, Derek had sported us a comfortable lead and Brock was on the mound. Somewhere in the eighth inning though the Leopards began to claw their way back in. Our response, an explosive 7-run inning by the Dawgs! That closed the door. Nate went 4 for 4 and we had eight different players with RBIs; Chase had four of his own. That's distribution. Derek went to 10-0 and we host Cal Lu tomorrow at 1 pm.

Softball Double Header vs. Whittier

Our Lady Bulldogs played a double header against Whittier today. In both stanzas we proved that the Bulldog bats were mightier than the Poets pen. We won 10-3 in the first and 15-2 in the second, running our overall SCIAC record to 17-3, one game behind CMS. In the first game, Olivia settled in after an uncharacteristic first inning and shut the Poets down for the remainder. Breanna only needed five innings behind hot bats for her victory in the second. This was the game that Thurber and I got to watch. It was a perfect day for Redlands Softball; 27 total hits, 25 total runs, and 19 left on base! Oops , we may need to fix that last stat. Anyway, Nicki was on fire at the plate, going 6 for 7 overall with a home run and 4 RBIs. That's the team celebrating at the plate afterwards. Amanda also belted one out of the park in the first game. Keep it up DAWGS!

Duke Unleashed

Today I was invited to be the surprise model for Prof. Terry Long's sketching class but the surprise was on me. I had to pose in the NUDE!!!! I disrobed (i.e. removed my collar) and posed on the platform while the students created their various drawings. Each had a different style and captured different aspects of my Bulldog physique - some more real-to-life and others more as caricatures. It was fun to help out on the artistic side of campus, especially in the wonderful Ann Peppers Hall. Maybe some of those sketches will show up on campus.
