Baseball at the Yard

I like to say it was poetry in stop motion today at the Yard. Our Bulldogs stopped the Poets two more times for the hat trick. We won the first game 8-3 and then we won the second by an almost identical score 8-2. We have three big games coming up against the SCIAC leading Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens. That's right. I was amazed too. We're 24-3 overall and 16-2 in SCIAC, but the Sagehens are 17-1. These next three games, one at home and two away, will be huge. Let's go Dawgs! Let's get to the top like our league leading softball team that beat Cal Lu twice today.

Water Polo vs. the Hens of Pomona-Pitzer

We opened up SCIAC play at the Thompson Aquatic Center and our young squad played well at the start going up 2-0. The Hens came back to take a lead 6-4 in the third when Talulah and Thurber showed up. From that point on when we scored, the Hens scored right back. We ended up losing 9-6, but that is a significant improvement over the first time we played them in our own mini-tournament at the start of the year. We're getting better. We have three more home SCIAC matches in a row coming up. Come on out and support your team. Talulah and Thurber told me it was nice to be able to wander from the track to the pool to the Yard today; easier on the paws. I stayed home because of a sore foot. I was able to read that our Lacrosse team won 21-15 over Occidental. Rah! Rah! Bulldogs!

Senior Day for Women's Tennis

It was Senior Day this morning at Verdieck Courts and Thurber and Talulah witnessed the last matches of four Seniors en route to a 9-0 victory over the Poets of Whittier. Senior Bulldogs Sutton, Carrie, Paige, and Whitney have helped our team post an overall 53-1 record in SCIAC this year with one more regular season match to go. Way to go ladies. Redlands brought all four of them together from four different states, Colorado, Oregon, Hawaii, and Texas. We'll have to look far and wide to find an equally talented group to fill that void. It's been fun. Thanks. And there's still some tennis to be played. We'll be watching for more success in the SCIAC Championships, the Ojai Tournament, and beyond.

Men's Tennis vs. CMS

Thurber and I went over to Verdieck Courts to catch our men against the number 5 team in the country, the Stags of CMS. After a promising doubles outcome where we went ahead 2-1, our men succumbed in individual play and wound up on the low end of a 7-2 outcome. We have another SCIAC match tomorrow at 9:30 am in Whittier. Our lady bulldogs on the other hand defeated CMS 9-0. They follow that impressive performance with their last home match of the season tomorrow and it's also Alumnae Day. Now that the brief cold spell is over it should prove to be a gorgeous day to

watch tennis.

Cots for Canines

This has been a busy week at admissions. There have been sooo many tours and sooo many prospective students. The black shirts have been great (and very nice to us mascots). I hear they lead awesome tours. To be honest, it isn't hard to show off the best aspects of our campus; just look around. But it isn't always what you see. It's what we do. Take for example Cots for Canines. This is a program aimed at curbing disease and adding comfort through better temperature regulation at our local animal shelter. Volunteers brought together by HEAL built 120 cots for fellow canines in front of Bekins Hall today. Thurber got to attend and test out some of the cots. How cool is that! This sense of community pervades our campus. You may not see it in the beauty of Memorial Chapel. You see it in the actions of our students, faculty, and staff. That is the Redlands we want our prospective students to see and ultimately participate in. Sleep well Dawgs. We care.
