Tradition - Tradition!!!! At the start of every new school year, the incoming Freshman class and transfer students get their first assignment - learn to yell the Och Tamale! They were taught by the Orientation mentors and the Cheer Squad. Taking the class picture was also on the agenda. This was Thurber's first time and Talulah stayed in the picture, too. It's not often you see three generations of bulldogs together. I wonder how many of the new students are 3rd generation Bulldogs this year? OCH TAMALE!

New Students Arrive!!
Thurber and I greeted several of the new Bulldogs and their families today. The students were greeted enthusiastically by the Admission Hosts upon entering Hunsaker while we hung outside with the parents. They were very generous with their ear-scratches - much appreciated. Then they were off to move the pups into their residence halls. What a great day for all and a new adventure!!! Welcome to Redlands!!!

August Activities
Whew! Summer heat finally has come and vacation is quickly coming to an end. Thurber has been doing some office hours in the kennel at Willis Center meeting and greeting all the tours. This is good preparation for the Fall - Thurber will be taking over as OFFICIAL MASCOT on September 18 so I can enjoy my retirement and new title as MASCOT EMERITUS. So we've been making the rounds around campus - School of Business, up and downstairs at Administration (I can never sneak upstairs for some reason!), and occasional stops at Student Life. We also have been entertaining at home - enjoy the pictures of our puppy friend Oscar. Thurber is even becoming a good host except that he let the little guy eat MY food!
Enjoy the last of Summer Vacation!!!!

Thurber Goes to Camp

Talulah and I had a relaxing vacation last week when Thurber was away at Camp Rick. Isn't that what kids do during summer vacation? I know he had a good time, but we're ready to have him back and look forward to his stories about all the fun he had. And now it's time to start thinking about school again.....
