Tennis-Men vs Whitman, Women vs Wellesley

Another glorious day in Southern CA...somewhat breezy, surrounded by the scent of orange blossoms with snow-dusted mountains in the distance. That was the setting for this afternoon's contests at Verdieck Court. The men played the "Fighting Missionaries" from Whitman College (WA). I witnessed a hard-fought battle in doubles by our #1 team of Cam and Anish. Despite that heartbreaking loss in a tie-breaker, Redlands came out on top overall with a 7-2 win. Meanwhile, the women took on the mascot-less women from Wellesley College (MA). They are an "all-girl" school, but they don't have a mascot.....? We were ahead 2-1 after doubles and....we won 5-4. The ladies play again Thursday at 2pm. The men play tomorrow. Enjoy some tennis and come out to support your Bulldogs!

Sunday Softball vs. Linfield College

I sent Thurber out to cheer on the Lady Bulldogs in the 2nd game of a double-header against Linfield College at the Field of Dreams. Unfortunately he didn't provide enough BIG DAWG energy to scare the Wildcats. Their pitcher was really fast. Redlands ended up losing both games 7-4 and 10-2. Playing these strong non-conference teams strengthens our mettle against our SCIAC opponents. On a good note, we did sweep the Sagehens yesterday at Pomona-Pitzer. Way to go Bulldogs!!!!

Saturday Night - Lacrosse vs. Puget Sound

I decided to settle down for a long winter's nap and sent Talulah to cheer on the Bulldogs tonight. (Wait, I just forgot - Spring started today. So much for the nap! I guess I can say I'll be "sawing logs.") The University of Redlands was taking on the Loggers of the University of Puget Sound . Our players were up for the challenge. We seemed to be scoring at will. Talulah shmoozed with the parents on the sidelines. It's been great seeing all the parents come out to see their daughters play during this stretch of home games. The Bulldogs allowed several points in the 2nd half, but still managed a win 16-10. Now the ladies can take a few days off to prepare for the Athenas next Wednesday night - That's going to be a great game to watch!!!! It's also Faculty Appreciation Night (COOKIES!)

Sports are happening - Baseball and Women's Water Polo

I got up a little late this morning after yesterday's marathon sporting event extravaganza, but managed to watch the second game of baseball's double-header against the Cardinals of Wesleyan University from Connecticut. The Bulldogs came away today with two more wins. They came from behind in the first game to win 5-4 and the second game finished in 7 innings with a score of 15-4. Way to go DAWGS!

I then headed to the pool to watch the Lady Bulldogs take on the Colonials of George Washington University from D.C. It was an exciting waterpolo match to watch as Redlands came from behind to win with a score of 10-9. The Colonials are a strong program and the players even have their names imprinted on their swimsuits! Good job Coach Whittemore and the Lady Bulldogs!

Busy Sports Day - Lacrosse

I wasn't sure if I was going to make it to Lacrosse tonight with all the other events that were going on. This one was going to be a challenging game and I didn't want to miss it. The Goucher Gophers from Maryland were experienced and tough. When Thurber and I arrived the score was 5-11 in favor of the Gophers with 24 minutes left in the game. The game was brutal. Goucher had players sit out for penalties twice which allowed us to play one man up. We closed the score to 12 - 15 by the end. Unfortunately, Megan got hurt with 2 minutes left. I hope she is doing well. I like to sit on her feet in class. On a positive note, Thurber chewed on a gopher that the cats brought in this morning......! The Lady Bulldogs play their 6th home game in a week on Saturday night. Come out and support the DAWGS!
