Before tonight's game, I brought the little T's (Thurber and Truffles) by Currier Gym to try and catch Coach Mari, congratulate her on her award, and wish the entire team good luck. We missed them all because they were focused and prepping for the match ahead. And if anybody wanted a thrill, they should have shared in the match versus La Verne. Five hundred of us were there (minus myself and my puppy entourage due to silly rules) to witness the culmination of a season of Don't Stop Believing! Yes, we held on to that feeling for two action packed hours that went on and on and on. Whatever midnight train our four Seniors find themselves on in the future, they will be able to look back and know they were working hard up to the very last point and the fans loved every minute. Down two games to nil, our Bulldogs unleashed a furious comeback that evened the match at two games a piece. The final game was tied 12-12 before a roll of the dice gave the Leos the edge and the match. Well played. It could have gone either way. Some will win and some will lose. We lost the game but ended up with the best record in UR Volleyball history. Tonight was the end of a phenomenal journey capped by four AVCA All Region Awards for Jackie, Megan, Lauren, and Coach Mari. And All conference honors to the same three players plus Kelina. And a final appearance in the maroon and gray for Ali, Katy, Kelina, and Lauren. Thank you ladies! You will be missed. GO DAWGS!
