This was a day for Tigers in Redlands. First up for Talulah and myself, we went over to the Field of Dreams to watch the Lady Bulldogs take on the Oxy Tigers in a double header. The first game ended after Amanda's walk off Grand Slam! That was nice to see. We won 12-1 and then we followed that up with another solid win, 5-1. This team is 8-0 in SCIAC and we celebrated with a team picture afterwards.

UR Chemistry Club
After an afternoon romp with Thurber on the lawn in front of Appleton, we went into the depths of Hedco, second floor, and crashed the Chemistry Club meeting. OK. Maybe we didn't crash. Maybe we were asked. If you look carefully, there's a familiar face in the crowd. It's Cat! She helped Thurber and Truffles in the early days from their birth at the vet and beyond. And it's great to get out and see some of the other fun things going on around campus. Education at Redlands is as much about classrooms as it is about camaraderie with fellow students and faculty. Any other clubs out there I should visit?

Read Across America Day
Still on break, I had an opportunity to visit a local elementary school and participate in the annual Read Across America Day in honor of Dr. Suess' birthday (notice my hat). Thing 1 and Thing 2 were there too. Thurber and I read in nine different classrooms along with middle schoolers, high schoolers, community members, and parents. Obviously my focus was on dog books. I read Dog Day, The Five-Dog Night, No Dogs Here!, Spike, and my personal favorite Skunkdog! While there we did meet one high school student who is on her way to the UR next year. I'll have to read her the Och Tamale next August.

AAUW Annual 8th Grade Girls Math and Science Conference
Spring break is here for the college students, so the University annually hosts 8th grade girls from the local middle schools to attend the AAUW math and science conference. Being a bit lonely over by Willis, I made sure to escape from my kennel with Thurber as the girls were heading back to their buses. What would a visit to the UR be without at least one mascot sighting? It turns out that the girls were very well dressed, behaved, and hopefully inspired to continue to excel in these subjects.

UR Baseball Team Photo
As you can see in the photo, only I made it into the lineup. Talulah and Thurber provided comic relief off camera, hence all the smiles. But they were too rambunctious to sit for the photo. I guess Thurbs needs a few more lessons in mascot roles. He'll get there. As a side note, I'd be careful where you step in left field...(just kidding). The Baseball team is currently 9-2 and if you look at the schedule they play almost the entire month at home. Head out to the Yard and support our Bulldogs.
