Still on break, I had an opportunity to visit a local elementary school and participate in the annual Read Across America Day in honor of Dr. Suess' birthday (notice my hat). Thing 1 and Thing 2 were there too. Thurber and I read in nine different classrooms along with middle schoolers, high schoolers, community members, and parents. Obviously my focus was on dog books. I read Dog Day, The Five-Dog Night, No Dogs Here!, Spike, and my personal favorite Skunkdog! While there we did meet one high school student who is on her way to the UR next year. I'll have to read her the Och Tamale next August.
