Another SCIAC win for the Dawgs! We're 4-0 overall and 3-0 in league. It was another exciting game for me visiting the fans and playing catch during half time! And despite a 30 minute lull at the start of the second half, our team played extremely good football; we won by a touchdown. Six different Bulldogs scored, Cody (2), Jamie, Ethan, Gilbert, Richie, and Will with his first ever collegiate goal. We moved the ball well and we were able to muster 28 shots to the Beavers 4. The Beavers had some big and fast players, but they couldn't get passed our stifling defense. CMS comes to town on Saturday at 1 pm. Tonight's crowd was great, but I'd like to see a few more fans on the grass cheering our team on come Saturday.

Football vs. Whitworth (W 23-7)
Tomorrow is International Talk Like a Pirate Day but after tonight's 23-7 Bulldog victory, we showed there was more barrhhhk than bite to the Pirates of Whitworth. To be fair, the first half of tonight's game wasn't pretty for either side. Whitworth was a worthy opponent and our guys were as tentative as I was in accepting the mascot role. I wasn't too worried though. I knew we'd prevail. We had 2,000 plus fans in the stadium, a loud and cheerful pep squad, and 20 or so crazy water polo players backing us. And I was right. We came out to play in the third quarter, logged in two Selway touchdown passes, and blocked a punt to take control. Daylan ended the night with over 100 yards. I ended the night asleep in my new wagon whilst my grandpa stayed awake to enjoy one of his last official nights at Ten Runner Stadium. We're back in two weeks for our SCIAC opener. Come out and bring your kid. Maybe I'll bring Duke. Go Dawgs!
Rah Rah Redlands and Thurber's New Ride
Rah Rah Redlands with In and Out and Hangar 24 was a brilliant idea (Thanks Town and Gown!) and an excellent venue for Duke to hand over his reign as mascot to his grandson Thurber. And to make it even more special, Thurber was pampered with a tricked out UR wagon of his own donated by the Hatfields. Both dogs were escorted through hundreds of UR fans and their families who were being entertained by the Redlands Fourth of July Band and the Mariposa Chorus. Both dogs were then honored with a short ceremony where Dr. Appleton officially collared Thurber as the new Mascot. Thurb's Blurbs begin and Duke steps away from a long and successful run.
Women's Soccer vs. Pomona-Pitzer - 3-0
The Bulldogs and the Sagehens came into today's match tied atop SCIAC after both notching wins in their first games. The weather was perfect, if not a tad hot for Talulah and myself, and the fans came out in great numbers to fill the grass stands. Maddy scored first to give us a one nil lead which we took to half time. The Sagehens were a bit sluggish the first half, only mustering one shot on goal to our six. Rachel stopped the lone shot and after the Sagehens woke up in the second half, she made four more to complete the shutout victory. With the game picking up speed in the second half, our Bulldogs capitalized two more times with Fiona and Kendall getting balls past their goalie. Our team looks good. I recommend more fans come out on Saturdays to watch in case they hand out free otter pops again. Off to Rah Rah Redlands now!
