Senior Night at Farquhar Field saw our women's soccer team explode with four first half goals, three by Seniors and one own goal that could have been scored to another. We added another in the second half and almost one more with about 10 seconds to play. We played as well as I've seen us play this year. Our passing was crisp. Our defense was solid. Our attacks were frequent and on the front foot. We took 29 shots to the Poets five. And all of our team made it into the game. After three straight scoreless games it was nice to create a cushion against the Poets that allowed our seven seniors the chance to create a few lasting memories in front of a healthy and costumed crowd. Yes, even I showed up in costume tonight. I dressed as the Hot Dog that I am but I was outclassed and out shined by mono colored skin suits, zebras, and speedo wearing polo players. Our lady Bulldogs secured a spot in the SCIAC post-season tournament with the win tonight. They'll face Cal Lu next Wednesday. Go Dawgs!

Men's Water Polo vs Chapman (W 16-7)
Our men's water polo team played two games today at Thompson Aquatic Center. They won both, first beating the Whittier Poets 9-8 and then the Chapman Panthers in the nightcap 16-7. Water polo has to be one of the toughest sports and to play two games in one day! That's Bulldog tough! I caught the second game, my first of the season despite our team already having played 26 games. The fact is they didn't have many home games and I missed our tournament weekend in September. Oh well. There's one one more home game though and it's SENIOR NIGHT coming up next Wednesday at 7 pm against second place Pomona-Pitzer. I'll be there to see off five seniors from a team that is currently ranked first in the nation - Division III - for a coach who's won 400 plus games. We could use you there too.

Men's Soccer vs. Occidental (W 4-0)
Senior Night began with the appearance of a slight winter chill, but it ended well after our Bulldogs warmed up in the second half and lit up the scoreboard with three more goals after the one in the first. The Tigers never really mounted a sustained charge against our defenders and the few shots they took were ably handled in goal. We took 15 total shots to their 6. Let's hope this isn't the last time we see Danny, John, Ethan, Matt, and Gilbert on the pitch as a Bulldog. Yes, this was our last home game until the SCIAC tournament next week. We should at a minimum be hosting one of the games next Thursday. After that, or rather as soon as possible, check the GOREDLANDS website for details of all UR games.

Volleyball vs. Pomona-Pitzer (L 2-3)
Talulah and I had to stop by Currier Gym and watch our Bulldogs take on the Sagehens. It being a school night, we weren't going to make it through a long match so we hoped for a quick three and be done. Pomona-Pitzer was one place ahead of us in the SCIAC so this was an important outcome. After three games, we were up two to one. After four, it was tied. I thought we had the match when we were up 10-4 in the fourth, but credit the Sagehens for sticking to it. The fifth and deciding set found our Bulldogs down toward the end, but they came storming back to tie it at 14 a piece. We were so close, yet the Sagehens pulled off a 16-14 victory and the match was over. We'll need some help and some solid play against our two remaining opponents to get into the SCIAC tournament. We're Bulldogs. We'll play every point as if its our last. Speaking of last, the last remaining home game is a week from tonight. It will be Senior Night so let's pack the gym for our five Seniors.
