Tonight's match at Currier Gym was big. The first game we were loose. We built a small lead. We backed off a tad, forgot a few fundamentals, and then we were steamrolled for nearly a dozen straight points. We lost that game 25-16 and a lesser team would have folded the remainder of the match. Nope. We came back onto the court still loose; smiles all around. We grabbed the lead in game 2, almost let them back in, but this time we closed it out for a 25-20 win. The next two games were equally matched; one game a piece for the Bulldogs and the Athenas. This was a team that beat us in straight sets the previous meeting. Now we were going to the fifth frame and the Fall Break crowd was starting to sense confidence, not fear. We were up to the task and hit after hit, dig after dig, and block after block we came through with a 15-13 win. To be honest, we could have lost that last game and I would have still been proud of our team. They showed real moxie and I sense there aren't many SCIAC teams wanting to see us on their calendars any time soon. Go Dawgs!
