Women's Golf

I woke up extra early this morning to watch our Lady Bulldogs tee it up on the Champions Course at PGA East Valley. We were competing against Whitman, CMS, Calgary, and a few individual players from other SCIAC teams. And although it was a beautiful day in Redlands, it was a windy day in Beaumont. Golf is a difficult game to cheer for. If I barked I was probably going to be escorted off the course. So instead of barking, I posed for some pictures and rode around in a cart to lend my support when needed. I kind of liked the cart ride. I'll have to ask to do that again during the Bulldog Bench tournament. As for the scores today, I wasn't able to stick around for the entire round. I hope we did well. And I hope we do well tomorrow as we play in the first SCIAC match at Brookside Golf Course.

Senior Day for Lacrosse

Our second of seven straight SCIAC games and our eighth of nine straight home games was played against the Sagehens of Pomona-Pitzer today on Farquhar Field. It was nice to play under the sun and nice to honor our six senior Bulldogs; Mary, Haley, Sean, Cheese, Benji, and D-Frey. Those will be big sticks to fill once this season is through, but it isn't through yet. There's lacrosse still to be played. After a bit of a slow start, but showing no sign of fatigue, our lady bulldogs plucked in nine goals in the first half to the hens six. The second half saw more scoring, 12 bulldogs in all found the back of then net, and we won the conference match 20-14. Talulah got the opportunity to ham it up with the players afterwards. They were in a much better mood than they were the other night...

Tennis vs. the Banana Slugs

Both the men's and women's tennis teams played UC Santa Cruz at Verdieck Courts today. The man played first and fell 7-2. Thurber and I knew it was going to be tough. Thurber even tried to distract the opponents by playing fetch with some of the women slugs. It didn't work. We just needed another doubles victory early on to gain momentum for the singles, but it was not meant to be. Our Lady Bulldogs made up for the early defeat and played exceptionally well in their 8-1 victory. Talulah got to watch those matches and President Appleton made an appearance too.

Redlands Ruff Riders

Thurber and I made an appearance this morning at the Redlands Bicycle Classic to support the proposed dog park in Redlands. We were invited there by the owners of PAWS, our preferred source of dog food. This morning's ride was called the Redlands R.U.F.F. Ride. R.U.F.F. stands for Redlands Unleashed Fidos and Friends and this group is trying to create a dedicated dog park for all my four legged friends. So people rode their bikes; some people rode 5 miles, some rode 28, and some rode 50. There were small bikes, tandem bikes, single speeds, and road bikes. There were as many different riders and bikes as there are types of dogs. Bikes can use our roads. Don't you think we should have a park?

Lacrosse and the Athenas

It was faculty appreciation night at Farquhar Field. After a week of non-conference games where we went 3-1, we squared off against the Athenas of CMS in our second SCIAC conference match. However, the fading light of sunset and 70 degree temperature turned out to be the highlights of the evening for our visiting faculty. The Athenas looked sharper and faster. Their defense was tough too. By the end, they racked up 16 goals to our 5. The week of games leading up to tonight took its toll on our legs, but not our spirit. This is a great group of young athletes and after a little rest, we'll be back to compete in SCIAC. Our next match is Saturday at 1 pm. It doesn't have to be faculty appreciation day to show up. Show up. And root your Bulldogs on!
