Football Night and Halloween

Another Senior Night event was held at Ted Runner Stadium as the Bulldogs battled the Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens. Our guys covered over 600 yards en route to a 41-14 victory, 400 of those yards were in the air. We averaged over 8 yards a play on offense and our defense was as stingy as ever. Two weeks from now will be a huge game against Cal Lu, but first we travel to Chapman next weekend. At the game tonight, Talulah and I mingled in the stands and on the field before heading back home to don some wigs and hit the street for some treats. Oddly enough we weren't very successful.

Bulldogs vs. Tigers 4-0

The final regular season Women's Soccer game was a tribute to the lone Senior, Tenley. She's our goalkeeper and the rest of the team made sure she had no worries throughout the match. Most of the game was played on the other side of the pitch. The Bulldogs took 36 shots, 19 on goal, and scored four. Maddy pulled off the hat trick and Tenley had little trouble directing the defense that allowed only two shots all day. The weather was perfect. Perfect enough to inspire a brief appearance of the waterpolo team who were promptly rewarded with one of our goals. Our next match will be as the second seed in the SCIAC post season tournament on November 5th.

Senior Night Soccer vs. Pomona-Pitzer

Tonight we fought tough for a tie. We drew even at nil after two overtime periods against the top team in the SCIAC. Invigorated at the start after celebrating the great play seven graduating seniors have given us over the years, we came out and commanded the pitch. The Sagehens held their ground. The second half and the two overtimes seemed evenly matched with plenty of drama and action. There aren't many sports where a 0-0 game keeps your interest the entire time. Thanks to all the graduating Dawgs for seasons of great soccer and let's hope we get to see them in post season play.

Slumber Pups shhhhhh!

Some mornings I relish the tranquility of sleeping puppies.

Volleyball Clinches Share of SCIAC Title!!

Caltech stood in the way of four Senior Bulldogs, Lauren, Ali, Katy, and Kelina, who were playing in their last regular season home match tonight at Currier Gym. In just under an hour, with the support of a dozen or more other bulldogs including myself, our home team improved to 19-4 and secured at least a tie for first in the SCIAC. Way to go ladies! Way to go Dawgs! This has been a long time coming and it's great we can send out our seniors on such a high note. Now we have two more games to win the title outright before heading into post season tournament play. Let's stay focused on the next point. The next serve. The next game.

Redlands Bulldog (That's Me!) Triathlon

The University of Redlands hosted the second annual Redlands Bulldog Triathlon and 5K Run, Walk, & Roll this morning. The race began at 7:30 am with wheelchairs and runners alike making their way through the University of Redlands campus for 5k before embarking on a bike course that took participants out on to the streets of Redlands in a two loop 11 mile course that brought everyone eventually back to the finishing swim at the Thompson Aquatic Center. It was a gorgeous morning, perhaps leaning toward the warm side for the racers, but perfect for us fans. I heard of numerous people coming from far and wide, but it was the many familiar faces in the crowd that made it exciting. And what a finish in the overall division. If the swim was any longer the race would have been even closer than the 3 seconds separating first from second. Afterwards, Talulah and I went back home, fed the pups, and hit the couch as many of the racers probably did too. Well done!
