Men's Basketball vs. Whitman

Consoling Thurber with the recent separation from his sister, we went down to the University to watch our Bulldogs take on the Missionaries from Whitman. After all, Little T needs to take in a game or two as preparation for eventually filling my paws. But first, we stopped by the admin building for a quick photo (Thurber is in the D). And then we walked into Currier Gym to familiar faces. In typical Bulldog fashion, Thurber wasn't phased by the crowd, or the whistles, or the noise as the game went down to the last ten seconds. We lost 94-93. These heartbreaking losses are bound to end soon. I know it's the Christmas season but enough of giving the game away at the charity stripe. That will pass. We looked quick and strong and the season is early.

Tears for Truffles

We had to say good bye today to Truffles. But she's going to a great home. And it's close. And Truffles promised to send photos and even visit on occasion. Well, it's still sad. Here's a video of the last serious romp for the litter mates. Maybe that will cheer us up.

Thanksgiving

We spent the Thanksgiving Holiday in Ventura County where the Santa Ana winds helped the night time temperatures stay well into the 60s. It was very pleasant and the food was glorious. This morning we spent our time playing on the lawn, playing in the bushes, running between rows of orange trees, and basically working off the meal from the night before. After a nice sleep home, we're back in Redlands and ready for the final push through to the Christmas break. On a sad note for us but a happy note for Truffles and her new family, we're nearing the point where the litter is split. Truffles new owner has graciously offered to have her visit on occasion. Maybe there's a bring your grand kids to school day on the horizon.

Women's basketball vs. San Diego Christian

It was another down to the wire game at Currier Gym this afternoon. The Lady Hawks of San Diego Christian College arrived late due to Holiday traffic but the long drive home will be happier after defeating our Lady Bulldogs 66-61. It was close until the final minute. Eventually the 18 turnovers, Lady Hawk offensive boards, and long range shots were too much. But still, it was a fun game to watch. We are still coming together as a team. It will be another month before we see our team again at home. Good luck on the road ladies!

Women's Basketball vs. Westmont

Wearing my alumni handmade UR sweater from the Rose Parade (thank you again), I left the pups and Talulah at home to catch the Lady Bulldogs take on the Warriors of Westmont College. Knowing this is the start of a long Holiday break, I won't dwell on the attendance figure, but I will dwell on the fact that we have an exciting team and this was an exciting game. Courtney got in dubious foul trouble early on so others on the team stepped up and filled her scoring void. Allison poured in 23 points, Shada had 14, and Meghan had 12. But it was the last 3 points from Allison that shocked everyone. She hit a buzzer beater with less than a second to go to down the Warriors, a nationally ranked NAIA team, 75-74. Wow! Did that just happen in Currier Gym? Did we just witness one of many highlights to come this season? Yes. Yes. And the best part is that we play again tomorrow at 2 pm. Forget the Turkey Day preparations. This is good bordering on great basketball! Don't miss it. I'll be under the scoring table, a bit horse from my howling tonight but ready to stand with the pack tomorrow.

Campus Puppy Photo Shoot

In preparation for our visit to the campus today, both puppies got baths. After the baths, I made the mistake of letting them outside to dry off in the sun. Well, I forgot the other thing outside was our drip system. The puppies found it and well, we had a second bath shortly thereafter. Campus was one photo after another. All four of us were traipsing about Pepper's Lawn and the Admin building. What a great backdrop! And when we were done outside we went inside to sit with the president. Does he realize one of my offspring's offspring will be named Dorsey?

Pupdate Monday Morning

The pups play around the yard followed by another skateboard session where mother bugs them incessantly. It's a generational thing...

Pupdate video - skateboarding

The pups haven't quite perfected their technique, but at least they're willing to try. Talulah just barks at the darn board.

Basketball vs. St. Thomas

The home opener for the 2009-2010 Women's Basketball season didn't end up quite as we had hoped, but it was an exciting game nonetheless. The Tommies from Minnesota eventually won 63-61. They hit a few critical shots toward the end of the game and they played extremely tough in the paint all night. But so did we. Courtney led our squad with 18 hard fought points and Mariah followed her up with 12. Our Bulldogs looked a tad rusty from the outside. We hit only 3 of 18 from beyond the arc and our free throw shooting was less than stellar. But we will bounce back stronger. I guarantee it. We have two games this upcoming week; Tuesday at 7:30 pm and Wednesday at 2 pm. Come out and enjoy a good game of basketball before heading home for Thanksgiving. I'll be there. Just look for me under the scoring table.
