My offer to keep score tonight was rebuked by the referees on account of some arcane NCAA rules so I settled in under the scoring table and caught a competitive game between our Bulldogs and the Athenas of CMS. We were fighting to remain in solo second place while the Athenas are one of three teams vying for the last two playoff spots. They needed this game and after falling behind early they fought back to tie it at half time. The second half we were plagued by turnovers and poor shooting. Luckily our defense remained solid and that kept us close enough until we started to find our rhythm again. I was impressed with our Bulldog persistence. When Courtney missed several shots in a row, she didn't shy away from taking another shot and the team didn't stop working the ball to her. She stepped up big toward the end and hit a three and then several close jumpers. Bulldogs don't quit after a little adversity. We proved that and then we pulled away with a seven point victory. Mariah had a double dozen points and rebounds, and both Ashley and Allison threw down 10. Senior Night and t-shirt night is this Saturday! Be there at 5 pm.
