Lacrosse vs. CMS (L 16-17) White Out!

I'll admit I have no idea what the White Out theme at tonight's Lacrosse game was all about. But heh, I'm all white so I figured I was dressed for the occasion anyway. And lucky I showed up. This was a great game. This was competitive, exciting, and heartbreaking all wrapped into our first loss of the season. To set the stage, the Athenas of CMS are the defending SCIAC champions. They beat us three times last year, twice by double digits, but each time we got better. Tonight, we stepped it up again. We came up one goal short, 16-17, but we had several chances in the waning minutes to tie it. Jacky had a prolific scoring night with seven netters and KK added five of her own. We were down by as many as six at several points, but we always responded with Bulldog tenacity. There wasn't a second we didn't think we have a chance to tie and take the lead. It was all fight and I look forward to our next match up. Like the weather tonight, the warm winds of change are clearly here and Bulldog Lacrosse is looking like a contender.

Men's Tennis vs. Middlebury (L 3-6)

The #1 ranked Panthers of Middlebury visited Verdieck Courts this afternoon and our Bulldogs gave them a great fight. I was able to hang around for the doubles matches and I saw us take an amazing 2-1 lead after two come from behind victories. During singles, we played them closer than the eventual score. It could have easily gone our way on any of several matches. Don't get me wrong. This was a hard loss, but one from which we will get stronger. We have Gustavus Adolphus tomorrow at 3pm before we get back into SCIAC play next month. I recommend watching some tennis tomorrow as it should be a perfect day next to the orange groves and in the shadow of snow capped mountains.

School of Business: Rancho Cucamonga

After watching the doubles matches, I left early to make it over to Rancho Cucamonga where the School of Business held an event to encourage the soon to be graduates to celebrate their accomplishments by attending commencement in May. Dean Noble-Goodman spoke to about 20-30 students, spouses and kids. Just because they take classes in Rancho doesn't mean they aren't Bulldogs too! I look forward to seeing all of them on the Quad in about two months. Keep up the good work Dawgs!

Baseball vs. Caltech (W 14-0; 12-0)

Our Bulldogs notched two more victories today against the visiting Beavers of Caltech. That gives us an overall record of 17-6 and a 10-3 record for SCIAC. In the first game, our pitching staff limited the Beavers to three hits while we collected 15. Joe had 3 RBIs. In between games, I made it over next to the dugout and played catch with some of the players. I slobbered on a few of the baseballs and that may have contributed to the combined no hitter we pitched in the second game. We won 12-0 in that one. Landon and Petter had 3 RBIs a piece. The Poets of Whittier are up next after our rescheduled third game tomorrow with the Beavers. All of this is leading up to the April 23rd 100th season celebration. Go Dawgs!
