Baseball Bulldogs take on the Scarlet Raiders

Round two vs. the Scarlet Raiders of Rutgers-Newark took place today at The Yard. The first game last Friday ended 22-1 in our favor so Thurber and I were expecting more of the same. But earlier in the day, our guys played Ithica College where we won a close one 4-1. Was that going to take it's toll on us? Were we going to come out flat? Nope. Bulldogs aren't flat. We're rotund and we don't tire easily. This game afforded us an opportunity for testing our roster depth and we won 31-0. I guess we have depth just like we do in mascots (from myself to Talulah to Thurber). That gives us nine in a row where we've outscored our opponents 104-22 in that stretch. I like those numbers. OK. So they're inflated a little, but take out two lopsided games and we're still putting up solid offensive numbers. Let's see if we can keep it up this Friday and Saturday when we play four more games at our California Invite. And by the way, one of those teams we play is the University of Puget Sound. Yep, the same school that knocked our lady hoopsters out of the NCAA tournament.
