The Willamette University Bearcats fell victim to the Bulldogs in our home opener tonight on Farquhar Field. Thurber was the last Bulldog standing after the Cross Country races; the other two had to retire home. So he wandered over after stopping by the Faculty Dinner at the Greek Theater where it was Oktoberfest time (beverages from a local brewery were available). Hey, sometimes even a handler needs a refreshment or two and some brautwurst. (How come I didn't get any!) But back to the pitch where our men controlled possession for the better part of the first half, only to walk away one up after a nice corner combo by Gabe and Alex. That was a bit frustrating that we didn't lead by more. In the second half, we continued to play well and two more balls found the back of the net en route to a 3-1 victory and 1-0 start to the season. Off to SCIAC play next at La Verne and Pomona-Pitzer before we return against Caltech on the 22nd.
