Baseball vs. Pomona-Pitzer (W 8-2; W 9-6)

Duke made two stops at The Yard to catch both games of the double header against Pomona-Pitzer. The Sagehens were sporting the second best overall record in SCIAC and they had beat us the day before behind our strongest pitcher. To win both today, we would need stellar pitching from the entire stable and potent offense from every bat. We got it in spades; 15 hits and 8 RBIs in the first game. Nine different Bulldogs collected hits in the game with Cameron leading the way with 3 and Trenton pushing 3 RBIs across home plate. Kyle pitched great and his relief held the Sagehens in check. Great game! One down. One to go. In the nightcap, five Bulldog pitchers entered the game as coach tried everything to stop the Sagehens from getting too far ahead. The Sagehens remained just out of reach until we decided to mount a few two out rallies. The first tied the game up, but we soon fell behind by one again. It was the last rally in the bottom of the ninth that epitomized our Bulldog attitude. Two outs. Jon singles. Is it possible? Cameron singles. It's possible. Ben draws a walk. Patience. Max steps up and hammers one over the scoreboard and out of The Yard and into Bulldog history. Wow! In 100 years of Bulldog baseball, that has to be one of our proudest moments. Great job Dawgs!
