Women's Basketball vs. La Sierra (W 89-52)

If you ever wanted a preview of the 2010-2011 Women's Basketball team, tonight was the night to be at Currier Gym. All 12 of our roster saw significant action and all but one scored. The one who didn't, Z, didn't have to and didn't take a shot. She was busy anchoring a solid defensive effort and left the bulk of the scoring to Courtney (23 points in 22 minutes including the first point of the season). Our Bulldogs commanded the glass and wound up with a 47 to 27 advantage, 33 off missed Golden Eagle shots, led by Mariah's nine total boards. Our offense was firing and hitting from just about everywhere, in part because Christina was busy dishing out 12 assists and the team shot a blistering 60 percent from the field in the second half. We also shot a blistering 56 percent from beyond the arc that half; four coming from Ashley. It was the performance I expected from the team. Our depth and size will be hard to match up with in coming games, but there's always room for improvement. The other teams weren't slacking in the off season. We have a long road ahead, including the next five games over the Holiday week. I won't get a chance to see another game until December 10. Good luck and Go Dawgs!
