Bulldogs vs Regals 2

Wow! Did Thurber ever get to see a great game tonight. Our second seeded Bulldogs faced off against the third seeded Regals of Cal Lutheran and they came to play. The Regals strategy of pressure defense might have worked early in our season, but this is tournament time. Meghan, Mariah, and Allison beat the press with passing, precision, and poise. Once down around the paint, Courtney took care of business and poured in 19 points in the first half alone. MacKenzie played great too. But the game was still close at the half; 35-34. The Regals were not going away easy. During the second half our shooting touch went cold around the same time that the Regals did. That was fortunate. What didn't go cold was our free throw shooting. We hit 82 percent from the line. If ever there was a game to hit free throws it was tonight when we shot 28 percent from the field. It wasn't until just under one minute to play that Thurber and I knew the game was ours. Mariah in typical Bulldog fashion drove right through the Regal defense, hit her layup, was fouled, and made her free throw. That one play changed the course of the game and the Regals never recovered. We won 63-61. Whew! Now we have one more win under our belts than I do claws on my feet. I had to use one of Thurber's paws just to count them all. And we're not done yet! Oxy on Saturday.
